Pop-Up Wallets That Hold Metal Credit Cards (2026 Guide)
Short answer: Not every pop-up wallet is built for metal credit cards. Ekster, for example, tells owners to avoid metal cards in its Standard Cardholder, and Secrid introduced the auto-lock mechanism in its Cardprotector+ so it could also hold metal cards. Pop-up wallets whose makers say they take metal cards include every current Conceal Plus Card Blocr ($24.99–$59.99), the Secrid Cardprotector+ ($75 for the Fluted version) and the Ekster Cardholder Pro ($95 list).
Prices and specs checked November 1, 2026, on each brand's website. Prices change often; check before you buy. Conceal Plus is our own brand. We've described every option, including ours, using only what each brand publishes, and we link our sources at the end.
Why can metal cards be a problem in pop-up wallets?
A pop-up wallet uses springs and a lock to hold a stack of cards in an aluminum chamber, then raise them when you press a lever. Metal cards are heavier than plastic ones, and some are thicker, so not every mechanism is designed to grip and eject them reliably.
That's why brands now call out metal-card support. Secrid's Cardprotector+ has a patented auto-lock mechanism that Secrid says "securely holds all cards, even metal cards." Ekster says its Cardholder Pro takes metal cards, while its Standard Wallet and Standard Cardholder are best for standard plastic cards. Conceal Plus redesigned the Card Blocr's card-retaining lock mechanism so metal cards no longer cause problems.

Which pop-up wallet for metal cards is the best value?
Card Blocr costs less. Most models are $39.99, the money-clip version is $24.99, and every current model works with metal cards. Secrid and Ekster cost about twice as much or more, but they come with longer warranties, and Secrid's Cardprotector is the original pop-up card case design. If a 5-plus-year or lifetime warranty matters most to you, the premium brands are worth the extra money.
We'll be honest about Card Blocr's history. Older Card Blocr listings told buyers not to use metal cards. The redesigned card-retaining lock mechanism changed that, and current Card Blocr wallets work with metal credit cards. Which one should I buy if I carry metal cards?
- One or two metal cards plus plastic cards and cash: the Card Blocr Pop-Up Card Holder or the genuine-leather Card Blocr Wallet, both $39.99.
- A minimal setup with a money clip and room for an AirTag: the Card Blocr Slim Pop-Up Wallet with Money Clip, $24.99.
- A small purse or crossbody bag: the Card Blocr Women's Pop-Up Wallet, $39.99, in 8 colors.
- Metal cards plus iPhone tracking: the Card Blocr Wallet with Built-In Find My Tracker, $59.99. See our Find My wallet buyer's guide for alternatives.
- A premium all-metal feel and a long warranty: the Secrid Cardprotector+ or the Ekster Cardholder Pro.
How do I keep metal cards working well in a pop-up wallet?
- Don't overfill the chamber. Card Blocr chambers are rated for 6 flat or 4 embossed cards. Embossed and thicker metal cards take more room.
- Use standard-size cards only. Paper or odd-size cards can jam the mechanism.
- Check the fit early. Load your actual cards when the wallet arrives. Card Blocr has a 30-day refund window if the fit isn't right.

How many metal cards fit in a Card Blocr?
