Card Blocr vs Secrid Cardprotector: Which Pop-Up Wallet Should You Buy?
Short answer: Secrid's Cardprotector and the Conceal Plus Card Blocr pop-up card holder work the same way. You press a lever, and 4 embossed or 6 flat cards slide out in a staggered stack from an RFID-blocking aluminum case. Secrid is the original design, is made in the Netherlands, and costs $49 for the bare Cardprotector or from $99 for the leather Miniwallet. Card Blocr models cost $39.99 and add internal pockets and cash storage at that price.

Are Card Blocr and Secrid the same kind of wallet?
Yes. Both are aluminum-chamber pop-up wallets with the same capacity in the chamber: 4 embossed or 6 flat cards. Secrid created this format. It launched the original Cardprotector in 2009, and the design won a Red Dot Design Award in 2010. Card Blocr and many other brands now make wallets of the same type.
The real differences are in what surrounds the aluminum chamber: leather or PU wrap, extra pockets, cash storage, price, warranty and where it's made.

Which one holds more cards?
The bare chambers hold the same number of cards. What changes the total is the wrap. The Secrid Cardprotector holds only what fits in the chamber (up to 6 cards) unless you buy add-ons. The Card Blocr pop-up card holder adds internal pockets for about 2 more cards plus folded bills. The Secrid Miniwallet goes up to 10 cards.
If you need more room, Conceal Plus has bifold Card Blocr models. The Card Blocr Carbon Wallet holds up to 6 cards in the aluminum holder (6 flat or 4 embossed) plus 1–2 more cards in each internal pocket, with space for folded bills or business cards. The Card Blocr Wallet with Built-In Find My Tracker holds up to 10 total cards, cash and an ID window.
Both brands recommend standard plastic cards in the chamber. Secrid says paper cards such as business cards can jam the Cardprotector mechanism. Card Blocr takes standard credit-card-size cards, and metal credit cards are fine. Conceal Plus redesigned the card-retaining lock mechanism, so metal cards no longer cause problems.
Is Secrid better quality than Card Blocr?
Secrid has the stronger reputation for long-term durability. It is made in the Netherlands, offers repair through Care & Repair points, and gives up to 3 years of warranty with registration. Card Blocr costs less and also carries a 2-year warranty. Some buyers do find the PU finish less premium.
To be fair to both: some Card Blocr owners have said the PU exterior feels slippery or cheap. Some reviewers have also raised durability questions about pop-up wallets in this price range. Our 4.2-star average across 1,051 on-site reviews reflects a mix of happy and unhappy customers. If you want the most proven mechanism and you plan to keep the wallet for years, Secrid's track record is hard to argue with.
If you want a lower price, a cash pocket included, or a wide range of colors, Card Blocr is a reasonable choice:
- The Card Blocr Women's Pop-Up Wallet comes in 8 Saffiano PU colors at $39.99 and holds about 8–10 cards total.
- The Card Blocr Slim Wallet in Black PU Leather and the Gray PU Leather version have a magnetic closure flap, an inner card pocket and a cash flap, for $39.99.
- The Card Blocr Wallet is listed as genuine leather.
Can I add a tracker to Secrid or Card Blocr?
Yes, both. Secrid sells a Tracker Card add-on ($39) that it says works with iPhone or Android. Conceal Plus offers two iPhone-only options:
- Built in: the Card Blocr Wallet with Built-In Find My Tracker ($59.99) has a 2.2 mm rechargeable tracker that lasts up to 6 months per charge and pairs in Apple Find My.
- Separate card: the Wallet Finder Slim Tracker ($39.99) is 1.5 mm thick, has a 5-year non-replaceable battery, an alarm of about 100 dB and an IP68 rating.
If you use Android, choose Secrid's tracker card or another Android-compatible tracker. Conceal Plus trackers do not support Android.
Does it matter that both block RFID?
Less than marketing suggests, for both brands. An aluminum case does stop a reader from talking to cards fully inside it. But modern contactless payment cards create a unique code for each transaction, and real-world skimming is rare. Secrid itself notes that when cards are slid partly out, they can still talk to a reader over a short distance. Choose between these wallets on capacity, feel, price and warranty, and treat RFID blocking as a bonus. Our explainer, Do You Need RFID Blocking?, goes deeper.
Which should I buy: Card Blocr or Secrid?

- Buy the Secrid Miniwallet (from $99) if you want premium leather, up to 10 cards and room for bills.
- Buy the Card Blocr Pop-Up Card Holder (4–6 Card Ejector) ($39.99) if you want the same chamber capacity plus ID and cash pockets for less.
